How to Find Teaching Resources in the Library

This guide describes the teaching resources available in Andersen Library and the PK-12 Curriculum Collection. as well as how to locate them. In addition, it provides direction to locating online information such as article databases and useful websites.

Curriculum Guides in the Library

Find curriculum guides shelved in the Curriculum Collection, Textbooks section (2nd floor), and also in the Main Collection (3rd floor). A number of curriculum guides are also available in Wisconsin and Federal Documents. To locate curriculum guides, follow these steps:

  1. Use Research@UWW on the library home page. Be sure to select Books, Media & More (UW Whitewater)
  2. Include curricula in your keywords.
  3. Additional keywords may include subjects, educational levels (e.g. elementary, vocational) or location (e.g. Wisconsin). Connect these using AND.

Finding Curriculum Guides in ERIC Full-Text

ERIC (EBSCOhost) also includes some curriculum guides. Use the Advanced Search, and limit to SU subject:

Scroll down to add the limiters for Guides:

Use the Thesaurus to select precise search terms, or Search for curriculum using content area.
For example:

  • "integrated curriculum"
  • "mathematics curriculum" AND elementary

Examples of other thesaurus terms or search phrases you may find useful are:

  • Academic Standards
  • National standards
  • National Curriculum
  • Curriculum Development
  • Mathematics Curriculum

Take advantage of the "Narrow Results" features at the left side of the screen. Click Subject to see options:
