Reading eBooks in a Browser

If you choose to read an eBook within a database (without downloading it) you do not need special software. Your browser will be able to display the text of the book for you.

Software Requirements for Downloading eBooks

See the information in the next section to determine if your desired eBook is available for download. Many eBooks use the ePub file format. Adobe Digital Editions is a free software that allows you to read ePub files on your computer.

Download this free software for offline reading on your computer or device.

Install Adobe Digital Editions,
- Go to http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/
- Click 'Download now' on the right-hand side of the screen
Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
Create a free Adobe ID account.
- Use your email address and create a password to login to Adobe Digital Editions
You can close the Adobe Digital Editions 'library.' You only need this software to be loaded on your computer to download eBooks.

Brill E-book Collections
You can download PDF files of Brill eBooks.
Brill E-Books follows fair-use rights and restrictions for all books on its site. This means that you may download or print pages for your personal research use only.
Subjects include Asian Studies, Biblical Studies, Ancient Near East and Early Christianity, Classical Studies, European History and Culture, Language and Linguistics, Middle East and Islamic Studies, Religious Studies, Theology and Philosophy, and Social Sciences.
eBook Collection (EBSCO)
You can download EBSCO eBooks for up to 7 days at a time.
Be advised that many of the eBooks purchased from EBSCOhost only allow one user at a time to view, checkout or download them. If a single-user e-book has been checked out by someone else you will get a message that states, "Sorry, this eBook is in use." You will then have the option to place a Hold on the e-book. When the eBook becomes available, you will be notified via email and the E-book will be added to the Checkouts area of your MyEBSCOhost account folder for downloading.
You can print up to 60 pages of an eBook as a PDF file.
Ebook Central
You can download the whole book for offline viewing for 14 days.
A limited number of pages of an eBook can be printed.
