How to Find Ebooks: Searching

What are Ebooks?

An ebook (also referred to as an electronic book, eBook, E-Book, or Digital Book) is a text that can be viewed and/or downloaded onto a computer or other digital device. Ebooks cover a wide range of genres and subjects. Though many ebooks are currently available in both digital and conventional paper formats, some are created strictly in digital format. Conversely, some conventional paper books do not exist in digital format, because of the book's copyright status, or the preferences of the book's publisher or author.

Searching for Specific Ebooks

If you know the specific title of an ebook, you may use Research@UWW (the default search box on the Library's homepage) to search for it.

If you do not have a specific title in mind, use a keyword search to find all ebooks on your topic:

  • Using Research@UWW:
    • Type a keyword into the search box and click Search.
    • On the results page, click on Electronic Books under the Genre heading in the left-hand column.
    • Next, click on More options under the Campus heading.
    • Check the box next to Whitewater (WW) and select Continue.
    • Click on the titles or click View Online underneath the titles to access the ebooks themselves.
