Early Childhood Education

This guide is a starting point for research and locating resources available to you as UW-Whitewater students in Early Childhood Education. Some resources are subscription-based and you may be prompted to log in using your Net-ID.

Search Tips

Begin with simple searches and few search term.

 

To retrieve records with: Type your search like this:
various forms of a word, such as teen, teens, teenagers teen*
a phrase (articles, pronouns and prepositions are ignored) "early childhood"
more than one word, adjacent or not, use AND "early childhood" AND reading
synonyms or other related words, use OR

"early childhood" OR preschool OR "nursery schools" OR pre-K

Borrowing Materials from Other Libraries

If the UW-Whitewater Libraries do not have the item you need, or if it has already been checked out by someone else, the Library can usually borrow the item for you from another library.

Place a Request for a Physical Item (UW-W or UW System Libraries)

  1. Tap the Request this item link under the title:  screen snip of the request this item link
  2. Tap the Sign In link:  
  3. Tap the Request link.  Note that the time needed to fulfill the request is noted in the link, either 1-3 days (UW-W Andersen or Lenox Library item) or 3-5 days (item owned by another UW System library).
  4. Note whether Item is Available for Request at the top of the request box.
  5. Choose location where you'd like to pick it up.
  6. Tap Send Request.
  7. You will receive an email when the requested item is ready for pickup.

Request PDF Copies of Articles and Chapters, or Items from Libraries Outside the UW System 

Request articles from newspapers, journals, and magazines, as well as books and other materials not available in a UW System library. Approximate turnaround time is 1-4 weekdays for articles; 5-7 weekdays for physical items.

  2. Tap the Sign In link:  
  3. Tap "We can get it for you! (Document Delivery/ILLiad)"

  4. Follow the prompts on the form and tap "Submit Request" 

  5. You will receive an email when the requested item is ready for pickup or online access.
