Community (Guest) Computer Access

At both of the UWW libraries, community users are allowed access to desktop computer resources.  This includes the use of online databases and software installed on public desktop computers. To gain this access, community users must have either a community borrower card ($10/year–includes borrowing privileges) or a community computer access card (free). Either of these will allow them to “check out” the generic library user account password. For security reasons, the password is changed weekly and needs to be “borrowed” from the Circulation Desk. The first time each week that a community user wants to use a public desktop computer they must get the current password from the circulation desk but then may continue to use that password for the remainder of the week, until the password changes.

The password is “checked out” to community using the Guest Computer Checkout widget, which will print the password sheet. Information on using the generic library user account is listed on the password sheet, including the expiration date. Any issues with the generic library user account or password should be reported via a TechProblems email to fragolap.
