Using QR Codes: Classroom Ideas...

Create Your Own QR Codes

There are many QR Code generators. Here is one that integrates with a Gmail account. (Consider using a personal Gmail account.)
1. Go to:  https://www.the-qrcode-generator.com/
2. Sign in:

                Sign in with Google

3. Click Generate:

                click Generate at left

3. Paste in your copied URL (web address). This one is a Newsela article: https://newsela.com/read/lib-robot-researcher/id/2001008469/
4. Click Shorten URL:

paste long URL into field, then click Shorten URL

5. You now have a shortened URL for those students or audience whose devices won’t read a QR code. Shortened URL’s are much easier to type, and can be entered without https://

You only need to type qrgo.page.link/sR8aD

6. TEST your Shortened URL by typing it in a browser or copying/pasting.

Short URL is on the left, QR is on the right

7. You now also have a QR Code.

8. Right click, copy, and paste it onto your project or into your document.

9. TEST YOUR CODE with your phone or tablet.

10. Click SAVE to keep track of codes for future use, or to keep track of statistics.
