Altmetrics stands for "alternative metrics. Altmetrics are complementary to traditional, citation-based metrics, which bring into consideration the societal impact of research. Altmetric provides researches and institutions with a unique symbol (a colorful "donut") and a score that represents their scholarly impact online.
