There will be a Better World Books pickup today. Please review the process that Paul outlined in his email (Friday, 10/3). Students working at the Circ desk may be the ones receiving the phone call from the driver. If you are working with a student at the desk, please go over their responsibility to tell a staff member immediately if they happen to answer the phone.

Overview of pickup day process:

  • Day of pickup - clipboard and key left at Circ Desk
  • Circ Desk takes call from driver
  • Staff member put help request in WebEx
  • Available staff member responds in WebEx that they can meet driver
  • Available staff member takes clipboard and key to meet driver by Door #6
  • Available staff member opens storage room and holds doors for pickup as needed

Mike Stibor from Kinesiology will be dropping off some old architectural drawings at the circ desk.  He should be there sometime in the early afternoon tomorrow (10/14).  Likely, Jennifer will be in the Archives with researchers at that time. Please accept the drawings, notify Jennifer, and put them in a safe place until Jennifer can retrieve them.

This week we have had a few patrons come to the desk with questions or issues using lockdown browser on the library desktops.

The PC computers have a camera on the top edge of the screen that you have to press down to pop the camera up.  If a patron comes to the desk saying there is no camera/ the camera does not work, please show them how to pop the camera up.

The Mac computers should not be connected to wifi (they are connected to ethernet).  If a patron comes to the desk saying lockdown browser is not working on a mac, please check to see if they are connected to wifi - you can toggle the wifi off and lockdown browser should work normally.

The campus is holding a fire drill tomorrow, Wednesday, 8 October.  Andersen building will be one of the first buildings with a planned alarm time between 10:30 and 11:00. Everyone will need to exit the building. Students and staff in  Access Services will clear the 3rd floor. We do have a student who is scheduled to shred during that time. He will lock the Mezzanine and exit the building as soon as possible.
