We’ve had a number of students this semester that have had trouble opening quizzes in Canvas that require LockDown Browser.

tl;dr – Have them open up LockDown Browser and then login to Canvas and browse to their quiz

Newer quizzes in Canvas will automatically open LockDown if it’s installed, regardless of what browser the student is using.

There are also some older quizzes that won’t do this, and need to be accessed using the LockDown browser. A student trying to open one of these quizzes with another browser will get an error page that they need to install LockDown (even if it’s already installed). The language on that page seems to be more confusing to students than it has been in the past.

All Library laptops and desktops have LockDown installed already.

If a student is using their own device, they’ll need to install LockDown. When trying to open a quiz that requires it, they’ll end up on that page that tells them they need to install it, which includes a download link.
