Ulrichsweb database helps locate publication information about specific journals. Search by title or subject to find information on more than 300,000 periodicals including academic journals, popular magazines, newspapers, e-journals, newsletters, proceedings, and more.
Results provide:
- Peer-review information. Look for the referee shirt icon:
- A list of databases that index/ abstract that journal or provide its full text, essential for verifying that your article will be readily "found" by other researchers
- A brief description of its contents and content type (academic or popular, etc.)
- Journal's URL and subscription information
However, note that Ulrich's (unlike Cabell's) does NOT quality-check the journals it lists! It only publishes whatever it receives from a journal publisher. You must evaluate the journal yourself. See our Evaluate Journals suggestions.
Search Tips:
Begin by entering the topic area of your research. Narrow your results using the facets on the left side of the results list:
- Click the Key Features facet to select the "Abstracted or Indexed" option.
- Use Publication Status to limit to Active journals, as Ulrichsweb includes historical informtion about ceased publications.
- The Subject Areas facet allows you to narrow results to broad disciplines such as Business & Technology or Education.
- In the search results: Click the journal title to view detailed information.
