Announcements on Circ Guide - New Look & Feel

Springshare has updated the blog platform on both the front and back ends. Reading the Announcements remains similar from the public side of the Circ Guide. If you are logged into LibGuides, you won't be able to see the blog content from the guide editor.

You can still use the Add Announcement link in the box on the left side of the Circ Guide to create a new announcement. This links to the old backend interface to create a post.

When you create a new post:

  1. Put something in the Teaser (called Excerpt in the new style) section so that emails sent out to subscribers have some content in them. If all you are posting is a line or two, please copy the whole post into the Teaser/Excerpt.
  2.  Please do NOT use the Subjects (these are subjects we use for Guides and Databases) but please DO use Tags.

There is a new LibAnswers and LibCal login for the Circ desk account. I've updated the passwords on the iPad and the desktop computers with the new login. In case anyone needs it, the username & password is on the desk under the mat. Please note that the username is now a gmail email–for the LibAnswers queue to work correctly, we could not use the regular Circ email.

Papercut will no longer work when students are on a personal device and not connected to Eduroam.  If a student comes to the desk saying that Papercut is not loading on their personal device, please check if they are connected to Eduroam.  If they are connected to a hotspot or the guest wifi, papercut will not work.

There is a book on the hold shelf for William Weber. It is his dissertation. He does not need to check it out, UW Green Bay is giving it to him to keep. There is a note inside the book explaining the situation.

There are 5 Laptops that will be held for students who currently have a laptop checked out that needs to be reimaged.  The hope is we can incentivize bringing them back if patrons know there is a laptop available to exchange it with.  All 5 patrons have been notified that we will hold the laptop for them until October 3 (Thursday).  For now I will leave the laptop cart in the equipment room with a note on it explaining what is happening with them.  Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hi everyone! Diana and I found a new LC training exercise and added the link to the training tutorials under student staff on libguides. If you see this on the schedule (specially as Kent State Tutorial), please know that it is in reference to that link. As well, anyone feel free to use it and refresh your LC knowledge.

We have made some changes on our process with the laptop check in/ out paperwork on the purple clipboard in Circ. The information from the clipboard is mainly used as a paper trail if a laptop is not properly checked out in alma.  We are now having the night students verify that everything logged on the clipboard for the day matches what is in Alma.  Since we will do this on a nightly basis, it will help us catch any errors within 24 hours.  Once we finish a sheet, as long as everything has been verified properly, we will shred it.  You will no longer need to mark the paperwork when a laptop is returned.

If there is any damage to the laptop or if a patron reports any issues, it should be routed to Technical Services when returned.  If you go to check out a laptop and there is any damage that is not already noted in Alma (or connection issues) also please route it to Technical Services.

Hopefully this will simplify the process.  If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.  Thanks!

We are currently out of laptops. If a patron asks for a laptop, ask them if they would like an iPad instead.

Prof. Lama Bergstrand Othman will come by on Monday, 8 July to pick up 3 GORTs and 3 Woodcock Johnsons. They are already checked out to her for an extended period of time, you just have to hand them over. Beth has put the items at the end of the row of shelving carts.

A patron from Fairhaven visited yesterday and might come back to check out Caddyshack. The DVD is in the case and the case is on top of the DVD cabinet. If they don't come by this afternoon, we'll return everything to the normal place.
