Climatology and Climate Change: Find Government Documents

This is a guide to support the writing of a case study paper in Geography 320: Meteorology and Climatalogy. Students will select a significant weather event and research both the event itself as well as the impact of the event.

Government Documents

Government Documents
Government documents are a useful source of information on geography topics. U.S. federal government agencies such as the Department of State and Department of Commerce are actively engaged in country-related research and they publish many documents in this area. The Library is a federal government Depository Library and therefore will have many government documents listed in Research@UWW. International organizations such as the United Nations, International Monetary Fund and OECD also publish in this field.

Google Advanced Search
To limit searches to content from government agencies, use Google Advanced Search. In the search box labeled, "Search within a site or domain", type:

  • .gov (for U.S. government agency content)
  • government domain name for the country you want to search (e.g., go.tz or gov.br or gob.mx)

Country Domain Extensions

See Webopedia's Countries and Their Domain Extensions for a list of country domain extensions.
