These sources will help you locate images. But remember that you must properly credit information taken from these sources, even if the material is considered to be in the public domain. See the Citing section of this guide.
Search by artist, artwork or art museum. Look up the titles or subjects of artwork and find images of the artwork and a bit of information about them. There are a certain number of dead links.
Images found on the internet are NOT automatically available for you to freely use. Check an image's license to see your options.

3. Click on the "Tools"* button
4. Select "Creative Commons Licenses" from "Usage Rights"
5. Click on an image
6. Click on "Visit"
7. Copy image
8. Paste into your project
9. Cite image

Over 490,000 of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's high resolution digital images are freely available for non-commercial use. The Image & Data Resources page will explain more about the images and terms of use. Look for the OASC icon in photo captions for open-access images.
The UWDC provides quality digital resources from University of Wisconsin libraries to UW faculty, staff and students, citizens of the state, and scholars at large. Resources within the collections are free and publicly accessible online.
