Journalism 305/505 History of Mass Communication: Articles
Research@UWW searches across disciplines for "Everything" - articles, books, ebooks, videos, government publications, etc. from all disciplines. After a search, apply limiters like date or resource type (e.g., articles, or articles and peer-reviewed journals).
UW-Whitewater's libraries subscribe to many databases that search periodical (journal, magazine & newspaper) articles, and some also search book chapters, dissertations, etc. Some are discipline-specific and others are multidisciplinary.
If you're unsure where to start, ask your professor for help choosing databases appropriate for your topic, or try these options:
A complete bibliographic reference to the history of the United States and Canada from prehistory to the present. Indexes over 2,000 English-language journals published worldwide, and full-text for 196+ journals and 90+ books.
Partial funding provided by UW System Shared Electronic Collection.
(JSTOR has temporarily activated all archive and primary source collections until June 30, 2023 due to COVID-19.)
An archival full-text multi-disciplinary journal database, covering over 60 academic disciplines in more than 2400 scholarly journals.
Coverage varies by publication but typically begins with volume one of each title and continues to within 3 to 5 years of the most current issue.
Partial funding for Collections V and VI from the Russell Moratz estate. Partial funding for Collection VII provided by Student Technology Fees.
Full-text access to articles from over 7,000 journals (including nearly 6,000 peer-reviewed journals), magazines, and reference sources.
Partial funding provided by Student Technology Fees.
Find the Full Text
If an article's full text is not available in a database, click to see if it is available in other databases or in the libraries' print or microform collections. Or, use Journal Search for a journal, magazine or newspaper title to learn whether and where you may find its full text articles. See also the "How to Use Find It and the Journals Search" guide.
