A news source may lean left or right, yet still considered reliable if it is not leaning to the extreme. Reliability is a function of fact checking and correcting errors in reporting when caught, but also a function of representing multiple perspectives and viewpoints - which an extremely biased news source, journalist or editor will fail to do.
