Adding films or segments from Films on Demand to D2L is quite simple and can be done directly through the D2L Editor from the Insert Stuff tool.

To Embed a Film from Within D2L:

  • Within the D2L Editor, select the Insert Stuff tool
  • On the lefthand menu, select Films on Demand
  • Search for a film or segment within Films on Demand
  • Click the Embed button next to the film or segment
  • Click the Insert button
  • The film should appear in the Editor
  • Click on Save or Update at the bottom of the page

There are two additional ways to add Films on Demand films to D2L, but they do not always work well and you are better off using the Films on Demand D2L Integration explained in the box above.

To Create a Link:

  • Go to Films on Demand and find the film or segment you want to use
  • Under the viewing window of the film or segment copy the URL from the Title URL or Segment URL box
  • In your D2L course, in content, create the place you'd like to add the film or segment
  • Click on the bluish “New” button (at the top of the screen)
  • Select Create a link from the menu
  • In the Create a link window, give the film a title, paste the URL and check the box for Open as External Resource
  • Click the Create button

To Embed a Video:

  • Go to Films on Demand and find the film or segment you want to use
  • Under the viewing window of the film or segment you want to use, click the Embed link
  • Copy the Embed Code (use the code for public pages since it’s more likely to work in D2L)
  • Under the viewing window of the film or segment copy the URL from the Title URL or Segment URL box
  • In your D2L course, in content, create the place you'd like to add the film or segment
  • Click on the bluish New button (at the top of the screen)
  • Select Create a File from the menu
  • In the Create a File window, give the film a title
  • Click the Insert Stuff icon (left-hand button below the Title box)
  • Choose Enter Embed Code and when the window opens, paste in the code
  • Click through menus until you have Published
