The Custom Segment tool allows users to select any portion of a film as a custom segment. The custom segments can be added to a playlist.
- Go to Films on Demand and find the film or film segment you want to use
- Click on the Segment tab beneath the viewing window
- Login to Films on Demand (if you haven't already created an account, you'll have the option to create one)
- Choose the segment start and end time (use the start and stop buttons or enter the Start and End times in the boxes)
- Enter a title and description for the custom segment and click the "Create Segment" button
- The Custom Segment will now appear in the Segment tab to the right of the viewing window (you'll see buttons for Standard Segments and Custom Segments when you are logged into your account)
- Segments may be viewed in the player by clicking on them or they may be deleted by clicking on the trash can icon that appears next to the Custom Segment title
- To find the URL for your Custom Segment, select the "Go to My Content" link at the top of the screen
- From the list of Content, select your Custom Segment and go to the drop-down to the right of it and select "Share"
- From the Share screen, choose the Share/Embed tab and copy the LTI Link
- Using the LTI link (rather than the LTI process within Canvas) is the ONLY option for including playlists in Canvas
