Theatre 110: Introduction to Theatre: Find Books

An online course guide for finding library resources for use with Theatre 110

Use Catalog to Find Books & Videos

Research@UWW contains information about physical holdings at libraries in the UW System, such as books, videos, and government documents. For each item at either UW-Whitewater campus library it also provides the call number and location (collection) which are needed to find the item.

The catalog also has information about some--but not all--of the journal, magazine, and newspaper articles the libraries subscribe to. To find more of such periodical articles, see the Find Articles section of this guide.

To access the catalog, search in the Research@UWW box, the large box in the center of the libraries' homepage.

To summarize the Search Tips, it is worthwhile to be both comprehensive and focused when searching.

  • Be comprehensive by using a variety of keywords representing the same/similar concept and truncating terms when appropriate. These practices will find you more results.
  • Be focused by adding more keywords representing different ideas to your search and enclosing common phrases in quotation marks. These practices will find you fewer results.

Sample keyword searches:

"set design"

"set design" AND theater*

"set design" AND theat*

theatre* OR theater*

Book isn't here? Use UW Request or Interlibrary Loan to borrow from other libraries. See the Borrow from Other Libraries section of this guide for more information.
