McNair Scholars: 1. Review the Literature

What is a Literature Review?

A literature review is a review of the published literature on a specific topic or research question. As you conduct your literature review, you will search for, synthesize, and analyze scholarly writing and research that is directly related to your research question.  Your literature review will provide background information on your topic, and will illustrate the gap in information that you are seeking to fill.
