To understand the news outlet's legacy and adaptation, you need external, scholarly analysis. This analysis goes deeper than what the organization says about itself.
This is where scholarly research is needed. What do other communications experts say about this news outlet?
Google will have some, but also check in the more scholarly sources linked below.
Search for your news outlet's name, plus words like:
--legacy
--reputation
--history
--development
--scandal
--prizes (Pulitzer prizes, etc.) -- Google for Number of Pulitzer prizes won by _____ to see the total list of prizes, but then search for analysis of the winning pieces in communications journals
--award-winning
--authors
--profile
Or other words.
Start with just a basic Articles search from Research@UWW (search bar at the top of the page). That will include most, but not all, of the individual databases below.
However, if that is retrieving too many irrelevant results, try one of the databases below.
Academic journals, trade journals, and news in communication and mass media studies. Full text for over 200 titles and citations for more.
Online business library database of millions of full-text items across scholarly and popular periodicals, newspapers, market research reports, dissertations, books, videos and more. See Vendor's guide for useful information.
Full-text access to articles from over 7,000 journals (including nearly 6,000 peer-reviewed journals), magazines, and reference sources.
“You may browse content on the EBSCOlearning site before registering. Once you locate an individual learning resource (tutorial, practice test, article, flashcards, or e-book), that you would like to use, you will be prompted to register before you can access it. Registration also gives you access to “My Center,” where you can save any learning resource in progress for future completion, or to reuse an item.”.
Please see EBSCOlearning Quick Start Guide for further instructions and information.
A complete bibliographic reference to the history of the United States and Canada from prehistory to the present. Indexes over 2,000 English-language journals published worldwide.
A bigger search tool than any of the library's databases, containing scholarly articles, books, and theses in all subject areas. Some citations and some full-text.
