When we are out of laptops, there are no longer any other places on campus that are a good option.

  • COBE loaner laptops are only for an hour and only for COBE students.
  • The UC no longer lends laptops at all.

A reminder that students can print up to 25 copies of their resume on special paper for free (B&W or Color) at the Circ desk. Students will need to supply the fancy paper. We can also print in color on plain paper for free as well.

Please always direct students wanting to do this to the Circulation desk. The Zebra and 3rd floor printers are more complicated than they used to be, so please don’t direct students wanting to use fancy paper to those printers anymore (if you ever did).

Campus Job Fairs:
20 Sept: On-Campus jobs for students
21 Sept: Accounting Career Fair
4 Oct: Career Fair (all majors)

The Undergraduate Research Program (URP) has moved over (moved back) to the Andersen Library. They are now connected with ORSP and will be located in Rm# 2124. This is the unmarked door on the right (when facing ORSP) in the hallway. URP also coordinates the Research Apprenticeship Program (RAP), so students may ask for the office by either name

They have ordered signage and will have limited office hours starting soon. So we may get questions about where they are located at the Circ and Ref desks. If (when) we do, feel free to walk students to the area if you are able. The small efforts to help students feel valued can make a difference.

First use for new Announcements portion of the Circ Guide!
The following is copied from the information in this Circ Guide found under Community Borrowers & Guest Computer Access

Our campus now uses Microsoft 365 applications on public computers (8/1/2023). This affects our guest computer users (and emeriti) who want to use MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  1. First option would be to have the person use Google Drive/Docs/etc.

  2. If the person does not have a gmail account and just needs to quickly open and read/edit/print an MS word document, then have them use the Macs (with the printing workarounds as below)

More details:

  • PCs–Users without a NetID/password CANNOT use the desktop MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc)

  • Macs–Users without a NetID/password CAN use the desktop MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc)
    • Select “Skip Sign In”    NOTE: Macs don’t send to pay print queues–offer USB or email to circdesk@uww.edu
