Political Science 247: Political Satire and Cartoons (Prof. Fucilla): Finding FIlms/TV

Searching for films/TV by keyword or known title

Search UW-Whitewater or other UW campus libraries

Set Research@UWW to Books, media and more (UW Whitewater)

  • Search for word(s) of your choice, e.g., president*   (using * finds any endings such as presidential, etc.)
  • On the results list, use limiters on the left to click Resource Type: Audiovisual
  • On the next results list, use limiters on the left to select Genres (click “Show More” first): Comedy, drama, and any other possible genres, e.g., Comedy-drama, Caper films, Black comedy, Dark comedy, Farces, Farcical films, Film parodies, etc. (click the box to the left of each choice, then click the green Apply Filters button when done)
    • Click on a title and then on Details to see a summary of the plot and other information such as format (DVD or VHS)
      • Note: There is a VHS player in Andersen Library's group study room L2207. It needs to be on the "component" setting. You can reserve the room online, but it must be at least four hours in advance.
  • If there are no results, or none that are of interest, repeat these steps searching Books, Media and more (UW System)

Search Whitewater's public library (or other public libraries)

Get more information about movie and television titles - Both of these sites include summaries of TV series' episodes, e.g., Parks and Recreation or Veep

 

Getting DVDs between UW-Whitewater campuses (usually 1-2 days)

  • Check the location in "Get It' on the Details for a title in Research@UWW
  • If you see UW-Whitewater Browsing Collection, DVD Feature Film, 2nd Floor  or UW-Whitewater Browsing Collection, VHS, 2nd Floor
    • This is in Andersen Library, on the main (or 2nd) floor.
  • If you see Rock County Library Rock Video
    • This is in Janesville, in the Lenox Library of UW-Whitewater at Rock County, but you can have it sent to Andersen Library on the Whitewater campus. Sign in with your Net-ID, then click Request, select the UW-Whitewater pickup location, and then click Local Request. When you receive an email in your UWW email telling you that the video has arrived, come to Andersen Library with your UWW ID to check it out from the Circulation Desk.
