Importing from Databases - General Information

Basic importing directions:

A number of databases provide direct export links. You will be prompted to log in to your EndNote Web account, but the database will do the rest.

Some of the databases that provide this option are as follows:

  • EBSCOHost:  ebsco export button
  • Proquest: Proquest's All Options menu  and then  Proquest's Export RIS button
  • Web of Science: Web of Science's Export button
  • Gale: Gale's Cite button
  • JSTOR: JSTOR Cite this item button

In most cases, you will be prompted to save the citation file, which is a .ris file.

Save it to a convenient location such as your desktop or your Downloads folder, then open it with or upload it into your EndNote Web account.

In all cases, you will need to turn off your pop-up blocker

Regardless of your import method, verify your citations for accuracy.
