What is this?
This guide is designed to help students in the course, Issues, Perspectives, and Directions: A Professional Seminar in Education, find the Library resources needed for their research.
Borrowing Materials from Other Libraries
If Andersen Library does not have the item you need, or if it has already been checked out by someone else, the Library can usually borrow the item for you from another library. Which lending service to use depends upon the resource you wish to borrow. For assistance, please contact a reference librarian.
Use to borrow materials such as books, videos, and government documents--if not available at Andersen Library--from other UW System Libraries. Cannot use to borrow non-circulating items (such as reference books) or articles from periodicals. Universal Borrowing is a free service; items ordered generally arrive within 2-5 weekdays.
Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad)
Use to borrow articles from newspapers, journals, and magazines not available at Andersen Library. Also use to borrow books and other materials if not available at Andersen Library or through Universal Borrowing. Non-circulating items cannot be borrowed. Minimum charge per filled request is $1.00. Approximate turnaround time is 2-4 weekdays for articles; 5-7 weekdays for most other items. For more information, and for instructions on use, go to the Interlibrary Loan service web page.
Check the online catalog of the public library nearest you. Although you may borrow public library books via ILL, you may find it quicker to go directly to your local library if they have the title you need.
CESA #2 Resources & Library
If you are currently a K12 school staff member, you may request materials from their excellent resource collection. UWW faculty and students may view materials at the Resource Center in person, but should contact the CESA librarian to make an appointment. View their catalog, lending policies, and contact information from this link. If you are a distance education student in Wisconsin, or if you are not a teacher within the CESA 2 area, view this map to identify your local CESA.
Graduate students can use Document Delivery to have journal articles owned by UW-Whitewater in print or microform sent to them electronically. Request a Document Delivery article via the request form in ILLiad. Articles will be scanned and you will be emailed when your article is available for download. All emails will be sent to your official UW-Whitewater email account. Turnaround time is generally 1-2 weekdays. There is a $1.00 fee per filled request. Charges will be added to your library account once your request is processed. The Library regularly transfers outstanding student library accounts to Student Billing.
