If your UWW campus library does not have the item you need, or if it has already been checked out by someone else, the library can usually obtain the item for you from another library, using either UW Request or ILLiad interlibrary loan. Which service to use depends upon the resource you wish to borrow. For assistance, please contact a reference librarian.
UW Request from other UW's
Use to borrow "returnable" materials such as books, videos, and government documents--if not available at the UWW library you use--from other UW System Libraries. It cannot be used to borrow non-circulating items (such as reference books or books on course reserve) or articles from periodicals or journals. UW Request is free, and materials arrive within 2-5 weekdays. For more information, and for instructions on use, go to our How to Borrow From Other Libraries: UW Request web page.
Use to request scans of articles from newspapers, journals, and magazines not available at your UWW library. Also use to borrow books and other materials if not available at your UWW library or through UW Request (non-circulating items like reference books cannot be borrowed). This service is also free. Approximate turnaround time is 2-4 weekdays for articles; 5-7 weekdays for most other items. For more information, and for instructions on use, go to the Interlibrary Loan service web page.
How? Check out the How to Borrow From Other Libraries guide.
Use your HawkCard to borrow material from the Library. Loan periods for most books (including Main Collection) for undergraduate students are 28 days with 2 renewals. Reference Collection books may be checked out for 24 hours by UW-W students, faculty and staff.
See the Loan Periods page for more information on loan periods and renewals.
