Borrow From UWW Libraries

To find resources from UW-Whitewater and all UW System libraries, use Research@UWW, which is the center search box on the libraries' homepage. To only find physical materials at the UW-Whitewater campuses, choose the "Books, Media & more (UW Whitewater)" option then run your search. You will need to collect and use the call number and location to find items.

To find more details about borrowing borrowing from either UWW campus' library, look on this webpage:

Borrow Books & Get Article PDFs from Other Libraries

If the UWW library you use does not have the item you need, or if it has already been checked out by someone else, current UWW faculty, staff, and students can usually borrow it from another library. Which lending service to use depends upon the resource you wish to borrow. For assistance, please contact a reference librarian.

  • UW Request & Request - free
Use to borrow "returnable" materials such as books, videos, and government documents--if not available at your UWW library--from other UW System libraries. It cannot be used to borrow non-circulating items (such as reference books or items on reserve) or articles from periodicals. UW Request and Request are free services and items ordered generally arrive within 2-5 weekdays. For more information, and for instructions on use, go to our How to Borrow From Other Libraries: Request/UW Request page.
  • Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) - free
    • Use ILLiad to request scanned copies of articles from journals, magazines, and newspapers or chapters from books.
Approximate turnaround time is normally 2-4 weekdays for articles and book chapters, which are delivered online as PDFs.
    • Use to borrow books and other non-periodical materials that are not available at UWW libraries or other UW System libraries using UW Request.
Non-circulating items (such as reference books, entire journals, or items on reserve) cannot be borrowed.
Approximate turnaround time is currently 2-5 days for physical items. For more information, and for instructions on use, go to the Interlibrary Loan service web page.

Video: Request "Books, Media & more" from Other UW Libraries

This video shows how to use Research@UWW to search all UW campus libraries' catalogs simultaneously and place requests to have books, videos, or government documents sent to Andersen Library's Circulation Desk or Lenox Library's service desk. Requested materials typically arrive in 2-5 weekdays, however, during the COVID-19 crisis requests are taking longer to arrive. You must be signed in (with your UWW Net-ID) to place requests; this UW Request service is free but available only for current UWW students, faculty, and staff.

Document Delivery

This service is available to faculty, graduate students and distance education students. Upon request we retrieve journal articles from within the Libraries’ physical collections, scan them, and then load the PDFs in the requester’s online ILLiad account. For more information, see the Document Delivery tab of the How to Borrow from Other Libraries guide.

To find out about borrowing materials from outside Andersen  and Lenox libraries, see the Borrow from Other Libraries tab.
